Closed-cell foam with MLV (polymer) SGM Prime Barrier Ultra 6mm is a premium multi-layer noise barrier from the SGM Prime line. It combines three functional layers into a single high-performance material:

• Face layer — Middle-Heavy  Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) (polymer core) for optimal sound blocking across a broad frequency range.
• Inner layer — a resilient closed-cell polyethylene foam layer for thermal insulation and additional sound absorption.
• Lower and mounting layer — a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing with siliconized release paper, which facilitates installation and creates a constrained layer damping (CLD) effect to dampen vibrations.

This composite noise barrier material provides high-performance sound suppression across a broad frequency spectrum, all while maintaining a normal weight profile. Its moisture-resistant construction and temperature stability ensure reliable performance in diverse climates. It is designed for use in areas where a standard-weight material is sufficient to provide acoustic comfort.

At the beginning of 2026, an updated version of the material was released, featuring an improved composition of the mounting layer with increased adhesion, ensuring instant bonding to the surface and reliable fixation without the need for preheating. The improvement to the adhesive has made it «smart»: the «smart» adhesion of SGM Prime materials allows for adjustments during installation, while adhesion increases by 25% within 15–20 minutes, and by 60–80% or more after 24 hours.

The material now features a new design and new packaging.
